How to Clean Stainless Steel Wash Basin

If you’re buying a stainless steel wash basin, there are a few things you need to know. To extend the life of your steel basin, daily cleaning is the key to keeping it in original condition. Use only mild detergents and soft cloth for daily cleaning. If you damage the stainless steel surface with chemicals, the wash basin will begin to corrode and rust. Limestone and minerals in the water have the same effect, so to avoid corrosion, the basin should be rinsed with water and wiped with a soft towel after use. Remove limestone and minerals with vinegar, not chemicals. Do not use sharp tools. Do not place burning cigarettes or some extremely hot items like a hair dryer on the sink. This can cause burns and discoloration.

Below you will find a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the cleaning process.

Step 1

You will need:

– 7 parts vinegar

– 2 parts baking soda

– 1 part water

Mix the three ingredients together so that it forms paste.

Do not use cleaners containing abrasives, acetone, salt water or ammonia. Do not allow the surface of the sink to come into contact with acid, acetone, nail polish remover, hair coloring, bleach, dishwasher detergent, chlorine, steel wool sponges or silver polish. These can damage the surface of the sink and are not covered by the warranty.

Step 2

Spread the mixture over the wash basin that needs cleaning. Let the mixture sit for approx. 30 minutes.

Step 3

Rinse and wipe off with a dry soft cloth. Repeat if necessary.

By following this guide you will increase the lifespan of your stainless steel wash basin.
